a good day

Lauren's doing great today. We brought her a little etch-a-sketch thing and she actually wrote "Mom" on it and brought it to show me. She's also writing a bunch of Chinese characters on it which I totally don't understand. Whatever it is she's written she's very pleased when she shows it to me. Last night after her bath I put a dab of lotion in her hands and she was totally puzzled by it. I rubbed a bit on her back and she said "ahhhhhh" then knew what to do with the lotion in her hands. We went to a department store today called "Charrfores" (or something like that, the guide said it was the French equivalent of Wal-Mart. I purchased two packages of girl's hair clips & bands, one for Lauren and one for Leanne. When we got home Lauren grabbed both of them out of the shopping bag and quickly stuffed them both in a drawer. I thought she must be hoarding them for herself. But at the right moment she got them out and gave one package to Leanne. The girls watched a movie this afternoon and I thought it would be a perfect time for me to take a nap. Lauren got her own blanket out and covered me up with it. She is also constantly trying to feed Mike & me.

Leanne had a bad night last night. She woke up just sobbing. I'm sure it was stress related. I had to just sit with her in the bathroom until she was ready to go back to sleep. She told me this morning "Mom, I'm sorry you didn't get much sleep last night." Both of these girls are just so extremely sweet.

I don't know how to post pictures so I'm hoping Mike will put some more up tonight.

Oh those sweet girls!
I can't wait to see more pictures.
I was showing the pictures to Kaylee and Emily and Em has decided she wants a big sister from China; Kaylee very indignently explained that she IS a big sister from China.

You have some sweet sweet kids!
They are too cute! You will have to get with my sis-in-law; she can teach you how to say everything from "One more Mojito" to "Your sister looks like a water-buffalo" in Chinese. I am so excited for you guys!

Sounds like everyone is bonding. I mean what brings a family together better than a trip to a Wal-Mart equivalent? And -- only one meltdown so far is really good.
How is all the other "official"
stuff going? Counting down the days til we see all of you. Love your blogs. Keep 'em coming. Hug everyone for us. Love, Shelley and Betty
